Brain damage link to plane toxins

Researchers say that toxins found in airliner air systems can be linked to the neurological symptoms suffered by some pilots.

Pilots and cabin crew have for some time blamed their long-term exposure to jet engine fumes for symptoms such as memory loss and muscle spasms. But now Dr Peter Julu, a consultant neurophysiologist at the Breakspear Clinic in Hertfordshire and Royal London Hospital, says the symptoms are due to onboard organophosphates after conducting tests on pilots suffering from so-called Aerotoxic Syndrome.
