Breast cancer device should be taken off shelves

The Scottish Breast Cancer Campaign charity has called on the retailer Boots to stop stocking a device which is claimed to help women detect breast abnormalities.

Breastlight, which is produced by the Dumbarton-based company PWB Health, said the device shines a light through the tissue, giving an "internal" view of breasts. The company and Boots say the device should be use along with self-examination but the charity wants it removed from the shelves because it is concerned it could cause women unnecessary anxiety.
