6th November 2009

A centre to tackle obesity has opened in Rotherham where a third of the children and 60% of adults are overweight.

The Rotherham Institute for Obesity - based at the Clifton Medical Centre and offering a gym, cooking classes and specialist support services with obesity nurses and dieticians - is part of a £3.5m programme by NHS Rotherham over the next three years to tackle the problem. It was officially opened by Professor David Haslam, chairman of the National Obesity Forum, as part of National Obesity Week.
